Dogs must pass an evaluation interview to be eligible for daycare and boarding. Male dogs must be neutered.
We need all dogs to be socialized and well mannered around other dogs. Dogs must not show aggression to other
dogs or people and must not be possessive over food, toys, or space. This ensures the safety of everybody at Hanlon
Pet Haven.
If your dog has acted a certain way in past experiences, there may have been certain circumstances to the
situation, and we can assess if your dog may still be eligible. In a controlled environment where there are no children,
food, bones, most dogs act as nature intended, social creatures. If you dog tends to be aggressive toward others,
yet you only have met other dogs on leash, your dog still may be eligible. We will slowly incorporate your dog
into the play group and your dog will see that no one is trying to threaten one another.
It is preferred that dogs are on a flea & tick program weeks prior to admission. Dogs will be treated at the owner's
expense if fleas and/or ticks are discovered during a visit. To ensure the health of others, dogs that have been ill
with a communicable condition (mouth warts,
kennel cough) within the last 30 days will require veterinary certification in order to visit.
If you are traveling from out of town, be advised that the interview and check-in procedure
may take up to an hour, depending on your dog and how busy we are that day. This will
allow us to see how your dog interacts with others and how comfortable he/she is in the new
environment. It is best your dog arrive around 1:30 pm so that we have ample time to let
him/her adjust to all the other guests. To make the check in time more efficient, you can fill
out the proper forms by downloading them from our website and having your vaccinations
sent to us by mail (see About Us)
Vaccinations - Owners must provide written verification of current vaccinations and we
request that your dog have a Bordetella(kennel cough) vaccination weeks prior to your visit
(to allow full protective immunity to build up). Please read our specific section regarding vaccines for more information.
In the event your pet is unable to receive
vaccines due to a medical concern, or you elect to rely on titering to evaluate disease
immunity, please discuss these issues directly with the staff.
All of our guests must have a complete and up to date file as well as a behavior assessment
prior to admittance. It may be necessary to do another behavior assessment if your dog has
been out of daycare for a few months.
Our business hours provide for a period of quiet relaxation for our guests during noontime.
Inadequate "down time" disrupts our whole routine and dogs need consistency. Our rest
periods are therefore a crucial part of maintaining a stress-free atmosphere. Please call
ahead to arrange a time for an interview, fill out all the necessary forms, and to have your
vaccination records sent over.
